Scoliosis

Scoliosis

Scoliosis is a condition characterized by an abnormal lateral (sideways) curvature of the spine, causing the spine to curve to one side. In some individuals, scoliosis may gradually progress over time, leading to postural imbalance, pain, reduced mobility, and functional limitations if not managed appropriately.

At Dr. Aksay’s Sports Rehabilitation Clinic, our primary goal is to prevent complications, slow or control curve progression, and help patients become functionally independent in their daily activities.

It is important to understand that physiotherapy for scoliosis is not limited to general exercises. Effective scoliosis management requires specialized, evidence-based corrective exercise methods that are specifically designed to address the unique biomechanics and deformity of the scoliotic spine.

Our physiotherapy team is trained and experienced in scoliosis-specific conservative treatment approaches, ensuring precise assessment and targeted intervention. Treatment programs are customized for each patient and may include:

  • Posture and spinal alignment correction

  • Scoliosis-specific corrective exercises

  • Muscle imbalance correction

  • Core and spinal stabilization training

  • Functional movement re-education

With early intervention, expert guidance, and consistent therapy, scoliosis can be effectively managed to improve posture, reduce discomfort, and enhance overall quality of life.
